Mitsubishi has two new show cars that debuted at different shows to preview the next Evo X. The new Evo will feature a near 300 horsepower 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine with an improved all-wheel-drive system and twin-clutch transmission.
Both cars are riding on the new platform that was developed with the help of DaimlerChrysler, and featuring an all-aluminum body.
The Sportback concept, displayed at Frankfurt, is a 5-door hatchback.
Perhaps Mitsubishi is targeting the European market with this concept. Hatchbacks have proven to be more popular in the European market, which means it may not be available in North America.
The Evolution X concept, shown in Tokyo, is an aggressively styled sedan that closely resembles the production version we will most likely see in the US for 2008.
Both concept cars stray away from the grocery-getter image of the current Lancer. The next Evo should not disappoint. |
