Nissan's new GTR Concept

A few months ago, we saw a video of the upcoming Nissan GTR concept car racing around the track.  With its Tokyo motor show debut getting closer and closer, it is to be expected that we start seeing more and more of the car.  This time, the GTR was spotted at the Goodwood Speed Festival wearing surprisingly little factory camouflage and sporting a throaty exhaust note.

While we still don't have many details, the expected powerplant is a V6 that Nissan seems to favor in the 350z and G35 cars, with a pair of turbochargers tacked on for good measure.  Many aftermarket companies have already been experimenting with turbos on the 3.5 liter V6 engines, and have had great success.  It only seems logical for Nissan to follow suit.  The car is estimated to make around 450 horsepower, which should make it quite a contender in the sports car arena.

The Skyline GTR's were known for their handling capabilities, so one would assume that the new GTR will be no slouch in the turns.  It wasn't too long ago that we saw the GTR concept on the Nürburgring race track in Germany, where many manufacturers take their new concepts to test out the handling capabilities.  The GTR seen at the Goodwood show was wearing huge brakes and even bigger wheels and tires, so slowing down should be no problem.

We cant wait to see what Nissan has to offer with the new GTR.  The Tokyo Motor Show will unveil the car that Americans have been waiting for since the inception of the R32 Skyline.  Stay tuned to RPM Planets for more details as they become available.
