Ford Reflex

Ford Motor Company has been showing its exciting new concept car recently. It appeared at SEMA 2005, as well as many other large automotive shows this year. The general consensus? Everyone is filled with anticipation to see some of this technology arrive. Sporting some of the newest edge technology, the Ford Reflex is certainly Ford's bid for the car of the future.

Features like a Hybrid Turbo Diesel engine, that gets 65 miles per gallon, as well as safety belts that inflate upon an impact, will surely carry Ford into the next generation of automobiles. The car features three types of power. Solar, diesel, and battery power all have a hand in making the Reflex move. Ford wanted to make this car exciting, as well as use the newest and latest technology for this vehicle.

The interior of the Reflex is just as technologically advanced as the rest of the car. Features like integrated child safety seats, mesh seats, and a unique dashboard. OLED, or Organic Light Emitting Diode, allows Ford to use one LED screen to display all information. It is actually a series of OLED's stacked on top of each other, giving it a three dimensional look. LED use has become very popular in the automotive industry, and Ford is wasting no time joining the crowd. The final impressive technology used on the interior is the new inflatable, three point seat belt system. Providing more safety for occupants, the three point "harness" type belt maintains comfort. The system also inflates when an impact is detected, cushioning the stress put on the body by a seatbelt in an accident.

The exterior of the vehicle is just as revolutionary as the rest. Rear opening butterfly doors provide a sporty, futuristic look. Also, Ford left the circuitry exposed to provide that futuristic look they were going for. The head and taillights are solar powered, and the bulbs are LED as well.

Ford Reflex

This automobile uses cutting edge technology, and really shows where the future of automobiles is headed. Ford plans to stay on top of the industry, and take its company into the next generation. Stay tuned to Planet BlueOval and RPM Planets for more exciting concept vehicles from Ford.
