The Detroit Auto Show brings many unveilings of cars that have been speculated over for months and years. One such automobile is the Ford Interceptor Concept. We featured the car recently with some exclusive photos. Late in 2006, there was speculation that Ford was bringing out a four door Mustang, but the Interceptor is what showed up.

The latest release of information provides more great pictures of the Interceptor, including interior shots, and more importantly, engine shots. The engine has an intake scoop that stays attached to the top of the engine while the hood features a large cutout. Blue valve covers resemble the Ford GT supercar, and announce that this isn't any ordinary sedan. The Ford Cammer engine has been the object of many Ford fan's affection for a few years now since it debuted. Continuing Ford's drive to produce economically friendly high performance engines, the Cammer in the Interceptor makes about 400 horsepower on E85 ethanol fuel. The E85 engines that make good power seem to be a new Ford trend, as Ford just debuted the TwinForce V6 engine as well.

The interior of the car is full of black leather and silver trim. The retro look features many new shapes that Ford calls a squircle, a square with circular edges. The shape is seen all over the interior of the car, including the gauges, the seats, and the steering wheel. The interior also features four point safety belts, another sign of things to come in the future of safety.

The car gives Ford fans an idea of where Ford is going with their sedans, and gives hope to the performance enthusiast that might one day have a family. 2007 appears to be the year of economical 400 horsepower sedans; there is no telling where it could go in the future, but it sure seems bright.

Stay tuned to Planet BlueOval for more information on the Interceptor as it becomes available.
