Ford Fusion

Next year's model of the Ford Fusion will include the addition of a new "sport appearance" package on the SE model equipped with the inline 4-cylinder engine, says Dan Geist (Fusion marketing manager). Many dealerships across the country provided helpful feedback from their customer bases back to Ford. Ford listened. The new package, priced under $500, includes a black chrome grille, color-keyed fog lamps, 17-inch rims, and red stitched seats with red inserts. "The dealers told us to highlight the color red, especially if we could do it in some kind of a special package," said Dan Geist, Fusion marketing manager. Also included as another option is a new trunk-mounted spoiler ($300) and a navigational system ($2000) on the SE and SEL models.

Ford is talking about other add-ons with Jack Roush for the upcoming Fusion. Roush has maintained a rapport with Ford, adding customized packages to the Mustang and the F-150, so his imagination and application should be very interesting to see when applied to the Fusion.

Ford has also established a connection to car customizer 3dCarbon to sell body kits for the Fusion. Dan Geist claims this is quite the precedent, as this is the first time a kit will be authorized by Ford directly for use on a car. At the 2005 SEMA show, the public got a firsthand look at the 3dCarbon tweaked Fusion and the positive reviews fell on the proper ears it seems. The body kits are going to be installed by Ford dealers and will be covered by the factory warranty. The entry level kit is a $799, four-piece package that includes a front air dam, side skirts and a rear lower skirt, all designed to poise the Fusion in a lower, sleeker stance.
