The 5-door S-Max will be the first Ford vehicle to utilize the next-generation Mondeo platform. Inheriting styling cues from the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept from last year, the S-Max will have a similar appearance to the C-Max medium minivan. The S-Max will be the first Ford of Europe's designs to be produced.
Seating on the interior is suited to a range of 5 to 7, while still allowing the third row seat to collapse into the floor for maximum cargo capacity. Other unique interior notables are an aircraft-style handbrake and a dash-mounted gearshift.
Four wheel drive versions of the S-Max are to be expected as well as a variation of engine options: diesel and turbocharged power plants are being considered. Expect to see the S-Max on dealership lots towards the beginning of Fall, if not earlier.
