In Dearborn, MI, on August 9th, Camilo Pardo (Ford Chief Designer) will unveil a gigantic mural of two of Ford Motor Company's shining stars: a red 2006 Ford GT and a blue 2007 Shelby GT500. Inside Line is reporting that the mural will be hung outside of the Ford Conference and Event Center, across from the Henry Ford museum. The actual unveiling event will coincide with what Ford claims to be the largest gathering of Ford GT owners ever, on August 11th & 12th.
The forthcoming gathering and art unveiling could be seen as part celebration and part wake, since Ford spokesperson Marisa Bradley says the GT is slated to end its production run in the next couple of weeks. Camilo Pardo, who primarily does his works on canvas, is painting the mural on weather-resistant vinyl, after a digitized version of the mural is finished this week. "We do have the option to sell it, because it technically belongs to the company," Bradley said. "I'm assuming someone would love to buy it. It's a one-of-a-kind piece." |
