The issue of what concept is next has been resolved. The images shown here are of the next generation Impala, putting to rest the debate of it possibly being the next Chevy Malibu. These sneaky snapshots were taken of the camouflaged white car while it was running on GM's test circuit. Much debate remains what the next flagship sedan will have for a platform underneath when production time comes, as the Zeta platform may soon replace the Australian Holden Commodore.
Recently, Rick Kranz in the February 6,2006 issue of Automotive News said "Within four or five months, GM will determine which U.S. brands will be tagged for RWD and which RWD model or models those brands will receive. The first car is expected to go on sale in late 2007 or early 2008....As for the Impala, GM's design studio is prepared for the decision - both RWD and FWD versions of the next-generation Impala have been finalized. All that remains is the decision. |
