Chevrolet SSR red

On March 17, 2006, GM’s Craft Centre assembly plant built the 24,150th Chevrolet SSR hotrod pickup truck. The SSR, based on the TrailBlazer platform, was produced for three years at Craft Centre and never gained a strong foothold with consumers. Much initial blame was placed on its lack of practicality as a truck as well as its lack of power coming from a modest 5.3 liter V8. Later in production, however, Chevy did manage to appease some of the crowd by offering the $40K vehicle with the 6.0 liter (the LS2, bolstering 400hp) mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
