Friday the 13th is usually a day associated with bad luck and bad news, however, Bob Lutz gave automotive enthusiasts something to cheer about today. The Corvette SS that we have been drooling over for the past year is getting closer and closer to being complete, according to Lutz. When he starts saying things like, "We're way up there with Porsche Carrera GTs and Ferraris," you know we are in for something great.
The SS is slated to be the fastest Corvette of all time, with over 600 horsepower and an even lighter curb weight than the current Z06
that weighs in at a hair over 3,000 lbs. Lutz didn't give any firm
answers, but said the car should be here by 2009. I suppose we'll grab
our rocking chairs and a cold drink, the wait should be worth it. Stay
tuned to RPM Planets as more information begins to pour out of GM.
