1953 Chevrolet Corvette Commemorative Edition

Advanced Automotive Technologies (AAT) has trumped the General by formulating a Commemorative Edition Corvette worthy of pageantry.

In January of 1953, Harvey Earl unveiled one of the most celebrated cars in American history at the GM Motorama display at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The 1953 Corvette was birthed as a white convertible equipped with a Blue-Flame 235CI six-cylinder engine, three carburetors, a Powerglide transmission, and dual exhaust. The American classic had to wait until 1955 to receive its first V8 powerplant, a 265CI engine.

Moving forward fifty years, Corvette fans found themselves agonizing in anticipation at what treasure Chevrolet would release to pay tribute to the history of the car. The excitement was quickly dampened when the 50th Anniversary Corvette was released as a C5, a special edition red paint scheme, some badges, and other meager accoutrements.

Several Corvette fanatics were expecting to see the 50th year of the car celebrated with a Corvette sharing nostalgic features from the 1953; a motion that would have expressed reverence to the first true American sports car.
