The 5.2 liter V10 roars, the suspension hugs the road, and the dual zone climate control keeps you and your passenger completely comfortable as you rocket down the road. With a base price of $72,000, the Audi S6 makes a bold statement in the land of sports sedans, and with only 1000 of them headed to North American shores, owners are sure to feel special. |

After this past year's success with their diesel powered R10 race car, Audi may be putting a diesel fueled power plant in the upcoming R8 supercar that we recently reported on. A test mule with the body of a Lamborghini Gallardo, which is the base for the new R8, was spotted and sources say they heard the sounds of a diesel motor coming from within. |

Just recently, Audi confirmed a long-standing rumor of another car to be released in the A-series. The Audi A1 will be based on the on Volkswagen Golf, which is now the VW Polo, body style. Another portion of VW, SEAT, will be assisting in the production of this vehicle which is targeted to run about 16,000 Euros, or about 20,000 American dollars. The pricing shows that Audi is interested in getting younger drivers in their automobiles. Whether the A1 will come to the United States is still to be decided, but we should know more when the vehicle is discussed in detail in the near future. Stay tuned to Audi Planet and RPM Planets for more information on this and other Audis. |

Back in August, we showed you some spy shots of the Audi TT convertible and now we're back to tell you about the two variants of Audi's TT Roadster that are ready to hit the road. The top end model is a 3.2 liter V6 (250hp) with the all-wheel drive quattro system and the base model is a 2.0 liter TFSI (200hp) that is available only as a front-wheel drive. The powertrain choices in either setup are a conventional six-speed manual or a dual-clutch system, dubbed "S tronic" by Audi. The TT Roadster is expected to see dealerships early next year with a price tag in the same range as the prior model. |

It is incredible to see just how well Audi continues to do with innovative ideas and designs in their vehicle lineup. Previously, we were able to get a sneak peek at the R8 supercar concept and now it is official. The Audi R8 sports car not only has the name, but it also has the soul of the five-time Le Mans winner. At first glance, the aluminum-framed, 420hp, all-wheel drive coupe seems to capture the very essence of motorsport success and bottle it for production and as one turns the glance into a study, the evidence is overwhelming. |

Here is a glimpse of the next Audi, the S3. It is expected to make its public debut sometime this fall in Paris. This hot little hatch will only be on sale in the European markets for the time being, as Audi usually waits a while before importing cars like the S4, S6, and S8 to the U.S. The S3 you see here comes with a beefed up version of the VW GTI 2.0L that now pumps out 265 turbocharged horsepower and 258 ft-lbs. of torque. The S3 also gets a 6 speed manual with Quattro all wheel drive to add to the everyday practicality of Audis lineup. As with any sport model, the suspension is adjusted for improved handling and better stopping via bigger brakes and tires. The S3 will debut at a 2007 model for roughly 45,000 U.S. dollars. Check out more in the official Audi press release. |

Growing up isn't always bad. Take the Audi TT for example: the new version is bigger and bolder, yet more refined and easier to drive. These spy pictures were taken during cold weather testing and many of the new design characteristics can be seen. All of the mechanical features will be carried over from the hardtop TT, from which the convertible is based on. The new convertible is expected in showrooms a few months after the all new hardtop Audi TT. Both will debut as 2008 models starting next year. |

Recent spins from AutoExpress magazine have suggested that Audi has set its sights on contending with the Lotus Elise to capture more of the razor-sharp corner carving market. It's likely to be spun from the TT, in a much smaller form and could quite possibly make an official debut before year's end. Assisted by KTM, an Austrian motorcycle producer, the Elise killer-to-be will cater to the thrill of the driving experience, be extremely exclusive, and in limited (production) numbers. The "baby TT" is viewed to be a roadster built from a carbon fiber chassis and will have very similar traits to the VW EcoRacer concept. The concept will weigh around 1600 pounds and is said that it will achieve nearly 50mpg with a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 6 seconds. Wow! We'll have to see what else the venture between Audi and KTM produces on this one. RPM Planets will keep you posted, so stay tuned. |

It's been said before that some cars as so fast they seem like they are jets. Well, the diesel powered Audi R10 TDI proves itself worthy of flight, as it is only a tenth of a second slower than a Harrier jump jet! Hard to believe, but the winner of the 24 hour Le Mans raced the combat jet in a 1 kilometer sprint on an airstrip to show its potential. The incredible video is waiting for you below. |
