While the PT Cruiser is celebrating its 6th anniversary of production, the Chrysler group has yet to decide upon a future model to help continue the bloodline. With only minor changes in store for next year's model, several concerns and questions abound regarding what should be done for styling and muscle in the Cruiser. Chrysler group COO Eric Ridenour said there is still debate within the company about how retro the next PT Cruiser may be. "That is always an issue when you have a car that is unique - what do you do next?" Some think the car deserves more power, from a V6 powerplant. Others think more power should be delivered from the HEMI line. Who will win, DMC? Will the HEMI break new ground or will the Nitro steal the PT's thunder? |

One of the least viewed and more alluring cars back at the January auto show in Detroit was the Diamondback Viper coupe, crafted by American Specialty Cars & powered by a 650hp V10 tuned by McLaren Performance Technologies. The possibility of ASC building the concept car is quite strong and the reception by Mopar fans will likely be one of open arms. After all, who wouldn't like more power (tuned V10), better looks (vented hood), and less weight (85 pounds)? If money is plentiful, who wouldn't want a car that would be at 60mph from a stop in 3.5 seconds or less? Sign me up. Check out more of the Diamondback over at AutoWeek. |

A wave of Dodge's recent releases is continuing to spread across the nation. The Dodge Charger and Magnum production facility's presence in Bramalea, Canada (part of Brampton, just northwest of Toronto) has spurred a recent city purchase of the Charger police special edition of the Charger. The HEMI-powered Charger will do quite well on the fast paced streets of Brampton today, as it likely will in other metropolitan areas. An aging fleet of other makes and models will lead many municipals to Dodge as a viable choice for service vehicles. Rumor has it that some passenger cab organizations are even eyeing the new Charger. Check out more of the Brampton story involving the new Dodge Charger police car special. |

Not be left out of all the fun, one of Dodge's infants has also undergone an examination of practicality in action. Inside Line took the 2007 Dodge Caliber out to see just how well the five-door compact wagon measures up with the competition and how well it may be received as the Neon replacement. Read more about the Caliber's accolades and criticisms in one of the 2007 Dodge Caliber's first in-depth reviews. |

You wont find a 2006 Crossfire on dealership lots this year. Why? There are plenty of 2005 models that have yet to be sold. No further units are going to be imported to the United States, as there are enough of them remaining to satisfy demand. Eric Ridenour, Chrysler groups COO, stated that we have sufficient stock and that the fact a 2006 was not produced does not necessarily mean the Crossfire is being dropped from the lineup. While 2005 models are still around in mint status inside the USA, 2006 models are being sold in western Europe to satisfy localized demand for the niche car. Last winter, Chrysler started offering discount coupons for the 2005 Crossfire on overstock.com to help spur sales.

We all know that pushing the limit can only go so far. Sooner or later, there comes a time to grow. The Chrysler 300 has lengthened a bit since it was last in the limelight and will aim to please those seeking more of a good thing. To be shown at the New York Auto Show, the Chrysler 300 Extended Wheelbase model is a stretched version of the base 300, adding six inches in length, creating just over ten extra cubic feet of interior room. The extended sedan will still be offered with the 3.5 liter V6 (rated at 250hp) and the 5.7 liter V8 (rated at 340hp). |

With the success of multiple vehicles this year, Daimler-Chrylser is planning to tackle the sub-compact arena as well. The new Dodge Hornet will take on competitors such as Toyota, Scion, and Chevy (the Aveo). This all-new hatchback appears to be a forward-leaning blend between a MINI and the existing Scion xBa decent seller amongst the younger audiences in the driving world. |
