Let's dive into the origins of Jaguar's new sports car, the XK, shall we? The clay concept from South Africa with design headed up by Ian Callum, Jaguar's chief designer. Early stages had the car oversized and fashioned as a hardtop convertible - both ideas were snuffed, as the focus remained on making the car have the sport feel to it. |

Jaguar is re-returning to its roots. Yes, I said "re-returning. For those who remember, at the end of the 90's, Jaguar made a similar claim when introducing the new X-Type, S-Type and XK series. Judging from the last few pictures this writer has seen, this time they are serious.

Lexus made a splash on the stage this year at Detroit with its new IS-F sports sedan. The bright blue paint catches your eye, the rumble of the 5.0 liter V8 grabs your eardrums, and the smells of exhaust gases fill your nose. As soon as you see it, you know something is different about this one. The huge wheels, the massive brakes, and the slammed appearance are all clues that this car was made for one reason: going fast. |

Conceptual Rendering
Toyota has announced the coming unveiling of its new FT-HS Supra-style hybrid super coupe. The unveiling is due to take place at this year's Tokyo Motor Show. Initial reports indicate that the car will be capable of 400 horsepower and 4 second climbs to the 60mph marker through the use of an electric supercharger (not a misprint). Much of the car's design components are said to come from the new (and pending) Lexus GT500. The petrol-electric car will feature a 2+2-seat layout, where the rear seats will be used to store the retractable hard top roof. It is expected to make a showing at the Detroit Auto Show later this year. |

Soon to be joining the ranks of other small SUVs offering a smooth ride and lofty MPG figures is the all new 2008 Nissan Rogue. A little late, but nonetheless, this little Nissan is a looker. The Design seems to draw strongly from the Nissan Murano and the Qashqai concept. Expect this little SUV to be packed full of features like ABS, stability control, optional roll mitigation, air bags, along with plenty of storage compartments and MP3 capability. As with almost all other Small SUVs, the Rogue will ride on a FWD platform and offer an optional AWD system for those seeking improved foul weather capability. |

The Subaru WRX STI has been a sweet hit on the streets. Its all wheel drive and 300 horsepower 4 cylinder engine make it one of the most potent cars on the road. Race inspired suspension and brakes keep it at home on the race tracks, and the cars are nearly indestructible on the autocross circuit. However, there are a few drawbacks for some of the older crowd. In an age where movies can inspire an entire generation of cars, some enthusiasts are left wanting a more subtle choice. This is where Subaru steps in, with the all new WRX STi Limited. |
