Any child of the 80's, car nut, or just all around action enjoying person has surely seen Transformers by now. The 2009 Chevy Camaro makes an appearance that is worth the price of admission just to hear it growl. General Motors had a strong part in the creation of this movie, with most of the main character cars being GM products. One such product was the huge GMC Topkick 6500 truck. While it may seem a fantasy, buyers can now go to the dealership and pick up an Ironhide of their own.
Some time ago, we reported that Toyota was rumored to be developing a cheap, entry level rear wheel drive compact car, reminiscent of the Corolla AE86. It almost seemed too far-fetched to have any merit, but the same rumor has popped up in the news again. Insiders working for the GTChannel in Japan have once again reported it to be in the works. Sources seem to think that it could slip in the Scion brand, or even as a Toyota. We think the car would sell like hotcakes, especially as popular as the drifting scene has become in America. The car would be priced in the 16 to 20 thousand dollar price range.
When a person thinks about the Lexus car company, they envision comfort, style, and a great car to take the kids to soccer or the grocery store in. If a person were to suggest a Ferrari competitor from Lexus, many would probably laugh and consider them crazy. However, Lexus has recently been on a performance kick, and they are introducing some exciting new rides. We showed you the Lexus IS-F recently at the Detroit Auto Show, and now another concept from Lexus has been seen testing on the racetrack.
A few months ago, we saw a video of the upcoming Nissan GTR concept car racing around the track. With its Tokyo motor show debut getting closer and closer, it is to be expected that we start seeing more and more of the car. This time, the GTR was spotted at the Goodwood Speed Festival wearing surprisingly little factory camouflage and sporting a throaty exhaust note.
Recently, a group of engineers, race car drivers, and other folks closely associated with the Corvette namesake were interviewed and asked about the next generation Corvette, the C7, set to debut in 2011. With so much talk of a mid-engined car, some sound advice and information was passed on in this interview, and the consensus is that the mid-engine setup wouldn't be the best approach for Chevy to take.
If an enthusiast were to wake up after a 20 year nap, and find himself in the showroom of a Porsche dealership, they would find themselves in the presence of some of the most well engineered performance vehicles ever created. It's like one grand slam after another with Porsche, and with the recent 911 redesign, the accompanying 911 Twin Turbo, and the awesome racetrack insprired GT3 and GT3 RS models. However, its latest concoction set to debut in Frankfurt, has recently been spotted on the streets of America. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the GT2 is back.
Simply amazing. There are no other words to describe this car.
Two hundred and fifty three miles per hour. Just stew on that for a
bit. The boys at Top Gear had the Bugatti Veyron on the street some time ago,
but couldn't realize its full potential for obvious legal reasons.
However, Volkswagen offered up their test track, of course Top Gear was
willing to put the Veyron to the test.
For some time now, we have been waiting on the performance version of the Audi S6 sedan. We've seen factory test cars with the distinct manufacturer applied camouflage applied, but for the first time, an RS6 was seen without the camo. With the success of the Audi RS4, the RS6 is sure to please.
The very cool, and yet very different F1-look-a-like, the Caparo T1, was recently filmed testing at a racetrack. The awesomely lightweight and nimble machine has an amazing tone, similar to that of, yep, you guessed it, an F1 car.
As if the stock Audi RS4 wasn't enough of an amazing car, as it proved by being named the car of the year for 2007, MTM has introduced its 535 hp version, the RS4 Clubsport for 2008. This car takes the word insane to an entirely new level. Audiworld took it for a test drive recently and now we get to see what it will do.
