Straight out of Houston, Texas, Hennessey Performance Engineering has released drawings and details of their coming supercar, the Venom GT. As with most things labeled Hennessey, power will be produced from a Dodge Viper 8.4L V-10 engine. Add a couple turbos to the mix and total output will be 1,000 horsepower, mated to either a six-speed manual or sequential transmission. |

It has been an exciting few weeks for Chrysler as of late. After rumors of a sell off, Daimler-Chrysler was bought by the Cerberus Capital Management LLC. To celebrate, Chrysler's new top executives announced that the Chrysler Imperial Concept would be making it to production. |

Just when you thought the DaimlerChrysler had let all of the cats out of the bag (Dodge Challenger and Chrysler ME Four-twelve), Dodge has plans to officially unveil the Dodge Demon concept at the Geneva Auto Show next month. Poised to slay the Mazda MX-5, the Dodge Demon is a bit shorter than the MX-5, but it's also taller and heavier than its soon-to-be nemesis. Power is provided by the ever-reliable lineup of DCX's engines: a 1.8 liter I4, a 2.0 liter I4, the 2.4 liter (172 hp / 165 ft-lb) and a potential turbo 2.4 liter (rated at 300hp) that currently powers the Dodge Caliber SRT-4. Check out the official Press Release from Dodge as well as a shattering gallery of images, brought to you directly by RPM Planets. |

Recently, I was able to have an up-close and personal encounter with a supercar I didn't expect to see at the Omaha Auto Show. I had heard rumors about this DaimlerChrysler supercar, but never expected to see the ME Four-Twelve out on tour, let alone on tour through the Midwest. It didn't seem to attract all that much attention during the press hours when I was there, but I'm sure as more and more people read the detail placard fastened to the rope fencing, the true enthusiasts were able to appreciate this car like fine wine. |

The car that saved Chrysler from the competition the Chrysler 300 and 300C is almost ready for a makeover. Originally released in 2004 this immediately recognizable homerun has gone on to win countless awards and fame from many different automotive establishments. But how do you improve on something that was so good from the start? According to this picture, the Chrysler design studio has chosen to leave 95% of the car alone and only to touch up the trunk area leaving the rest of the car alone. Since this picture was captured so early, I will only go as far to say that this could or could not be a preproduction 2008 car. But stay tuned to RPM Planets as we bring you more sneak peeks of the future models. |

The thing I like most about visiting the North American International Autoshow every year is seeing all of the future design hints that all of the automakers show us (the general public). The picture you see here is of the 2007 Jeep Trailhawk Concept that will make its public debut in a couple of weeks. The name is inspired from two intersecting diagonal lines from the headlights. Two Jeep trademark features can easily help recall the heritage: first the seven slot vertical grille just above the bumper. Second the round headlights. Although these are behind a plastic bezel, the shape is still there and you can tell that it is a Jeep, even if only a concept of things to come. |

Classic Design Concepts brought out their 300C Glassback to SEMA this year. The car features the company's all-glass roof, which was also very popular on their Mustangs last year at SEMA. The car also features huge Baer brakes, their very own Side Spear kit, as well as a custom set of wheels. Tunes are provided by a state of the art Rockford Fosgate sound system, and the car features CDC's rear GLASSBACK trim panel. Stay tuned to RPM Planets and Planet Mopar for more 300C SEMA show cars as they are unveiled.

As an owner of the current Jeep Liberty, I am excited to bring you these revealing spy-photos of the next generation Jeep Liberty. It's longer, taller, boxier, and more rugged looking than the model it will soon replace. The new Liberty looks poised to improve upon 3 major areas. The first gripe is that the power output of the existing 3.7L is a little underwhelming. However, with an optional 260 horsepower 4.0L V-6, the 2008 Jeep Liberty should put to rest all of these complaints. The second gripe is about interior space since the Liberty is a small SUV any space is a premium. Positioning my leg to not hit the steering wheel on long drives has become something that I am starting to dislike. Hopefully with the longer wheel base there will be more interior room for the driver and cargo alike. The last area of improvement should be in the availability of performance enhancing off-road features like electronic locking differentials or at the least, limited slip differentials, more ground clearance and a better ride all thanks to the revised suspension and stretched chassis. So look for the next generation Jeep Liberty to continue outselling the Toyota Rav-4, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape in the future. Keep checking back with RPM as we bring you the latest news about the 2008 Jeep Liberty. |

The 2006 Paris Motor show kicks off a new Autoshow season. The first car RPM is reporting on is the 2007 Dodge Avenger. Gone are the days of Stratus / Sebring common body, interior cars. This time around the 2007 Sebring and 2007 Avenger [Stratus replacement] will look and feel completely unique. Where the Sebrings exterior is a hodge-podge of different styling cues, the Avenger is sleek and smooth. Nothing is official at the moment, but expect the uniqueness to carry through to the interior to further the brand differentiation. Powertrain and suspension features will likely remain common across the platform to keep tooling and manufacturing costs lower, but that shouldnt stop the Avenger from flying off dealership lots early next spring. |

This past weekend, I was able to visit a local dealership, Tincher Auto Group, and take a brand new 2007 Jeep Compass for a test drive. After driving a medium sport utility vehicle for about 2.5 years, we have begun to look around at new offerings in the market. The playing field thus far has players such as the Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Caliber, Ford Escape as well as the Jeep Compass. While many hard core Jeep enthusiasts have the opinion that the new "softer" Jeeps are going to hamper the off-road image, I tend to disagree. The refinement and finish the Jeep Compass has inside and out shows that the focus has not strayed too far from being Trail-Rated. |
