For some time now, we have been waiting on the performance version of the Audi S6 sedan. We've seen factory test cars with the distinct manufacturer applied camouflage applied, but for the first time, an RS6 was seen without the camo. With the success of the Audi RS4, the RS6 is sure to please.
The S6 in stock form is already quite the piece of machinery with its V10 engine that makes enough torque to pull tree roots. However, insiders say that the RS6 includes some sort of forced induction, which should create upwards of five to six hundred horsepower. Combined with Audi's trademark Quattro all wheel drive system, the RS6 should be quite the combination of corner carver and Autobahn runner.
The bodywork of the RS6 has some changes compared to the S6, most noticeably, the front bumper. The front intakes have been enlarged (probably for the aforementioned forced induction) and the removal of the LED lights. The rear bumper has also been swapped for one with an added diffuser. This should help keep the rear end planted at those triple digit Autobahn runs. A single exhaust tip exits the bumper, a significant change from the dual tip setup of the S6.
We hope to see more of the final production model this fall in Frankfurt, where we can finally confirm exactly what Audi has in store for the sedan. Stay tuned to RPM Planets as more information becomes available.
