The VW executive car fanatics overpowered the accountants, resulting in the go ahead of one of the company's most redolent models ever. These computer generated images provide a firsthand depiction of the 2009 Scirocco's heritage connection with a contemporary twist. The sleek coupe draws upon the EcoRacer concept with tightly connected lines, a steeply angled windshield, and a mild raked appearance.

The new Scirocco rests upon the same platform as the Golf, the PQ35, and has several updates to suspension components to make the car a bit more sporty than its relatives. Some parts for the undercarriage may be aluminum when production time comes and may be borrowed from the next-gen Audi TT. Powerplant offerings are based on two displacements: a 1.4 liter and a 2.0 liter, both with 4 cylinders. The 1.4 liter is offered with forced induction (either supercharged or turbocharged) and the 2.0 liter is offered as a race-tuned turbocharged setup. Some rumors even hint at a 2.0 liter diesel engine making its way under the hood, however, it is expected to remain out of the United States. Read more about the new Scirocco over on Autoweek. |
