What do you get when you take the already-plenty-awesome
Aston Martin DB9 and mix in a few key ingredients from the racing spec Aston
Martin DB9R? You get this beauty right
here, the Aston Martin DBS. The Aston
Martin engineers took the classic DB9 styling and infused it with functional
aggressiveness based on what they had learned from the DB9R. And what makeover would be complete without a
healthy upgrade in horsepower?
The Aston Martin DBS has a reworked version of the DB9s 6.0L
V12. A bump in compression and reworked
intake design, along with several other upgrades, means the engine is now good
for 510hp, up from 450hp in the DB9.
Zero to sixty time is down more than half a second to 4.1 seconds and
top speed is up to 191 mph.
A healthy dose of carbon fiber helps to keep weight down and
includes several body panels. The new
carbon fiber hood has a more aggressive bulge and scoops to help feed cool air
to that hungry V12 below. An updated
six-speed transmission and new carbon ceramic brakes finish off the DBS like
icing on the cake.
Prices arent confirmed yet, but estimates are pointing
north of $250,000 to get one of these beauties in your driveway. |
