Normally touted as the ultimate in comfort and luxury, Bentley has dropped a few jaws with its new Continental GT Speed--an upgrade over the already awe-inspiring base model Continental GT. Bentley has done an amazing thing with the GT Speed, breaking the 200 mph mark with a car suited for Foreign dignitaries and the President.
The normal Continental GT is no slouch, capable of reaching 198 miles per hour off the showroom floor, but for the gearhead that prefers a bit of luxury, 198 is too much of a tease and he will always long for the 200 mph mark. With an increase in horsepower of 9 percent, and a 14 percent gain in torque, the GT Speed is capable of 202 miles per hour. Thats right, a 5100 pound car is propelled to over 200 mph by the 600 horsepower W12 engine. What is even more impressive, are the Porsche and Ferrari-rivaling short times to 60 and 100 mph. The GT Speed needs only 4.3 seconds to 60, and a mere 10.3 seconds to 100 mph. All done on huge 20 inch wheels and tires. Taking things to yet another level, the GT Speed burns cleaner than the previous GT's by over 3.5%. This means the GT Speed is better for the environment, and easier on your wallet. Then again, with a price of 199,990 dollars, we would have to say buyers aren't too concerned with current gas pricing.

Bentley has dropped the weight by almost 80 pounds by taking another look at their cooling and suspension setup. Bentley is also offering a carbon-ceramic brake package that doubles the life of the brake pads, and makes the rotors good for life. Thats right, no expensive brake replacements every 5,000 miles.
Bentley has always done a fine job giving their heavy luxury cars plenty of power, but beating Porsche's and Ferrari's at the same time? Its a CEO's dream car. Stay tuned to RPM Planet and Planet Euro for more great sport luxury cars.
