So you want the thrill of the BMW M3, but have 2 kids, a wife, can't afford the BMW M5, and just cannot see cramming the family into the coupe version. Well, BMW is about to answer that need with the M3 Sedan. The test mule was seen driving around sporting very little camouflage.
The Sedan will probably feature the same new all aluminum V8 engine producing 420 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque. That should be more than enough to tote the extra weight of the sedan around at a considerable pace. Taking into consideration BMW's all aluminum suspension, adding 2 extra doors shouldn't be a big deal.
In the world of sports sedans like the S4 and the Volvo S-series, as well as the Japanese and American offerings, BMW needed a mid-range priced sedan that could compete. Audi's RS4 seems targeted at the BMW M5, so the M3 sedan will provide a good middle-of-the-road offering. If we're lucky, this may entice the others to up the ante a bit. Stay tuned to Planet Euro and RPM Planet for more great sports sedans.
