Simply amazing. There are no other words to describe this car.
Two hundred and fifty three miles per hour. Just stew on that for a
bit. The boys at Top Gear had the Bugatti Veyron on the street some time ago,
but couldn't realize its full potential for obvious legal reasons.
However, Volkswagen offered up their test track, of course Top Gear was
willing to put the Veyron to the test.
With a straight of over five miles, the Top Gear driver has more
than enough room to put the pedal to the floor of the Veyron. The
video hits most of the highlights, but just to recap...
1001 horsepower from a 16 cylinder, quad turbo engine, top speed only accessible by entering a second key. At
full throttle, the car is taking in more air every minute than a human
does in four days. At top speed, the car moves a football field a
second, will use all of its fuel in 12 minutes, and costs 1.4 million
dollars.
The engineers at Bugatti hit the nail on the head with this car. It will forever be a legend, and why not? The physics involved in getting a car to just 200 mph take quite a bit of work. 250 mph is nearing an act of God. Stay tuned to RPM Planets for more awesome hyper-exotics.
