The newest kid on the block in the "insanely cool" category is the Caparo T1. Caparo Vehicle Technologies, a young new car company, amazingly finished the first of two prototypes in its first year, recently. The T1 is a brilliant example of power-to-weight ratio, much like the Lotus Exige S. Its 500 hp 2.4 liter engine propels the 1100 lb car to 60 miles per hour in only 2.5 seconds. The car is basically a street legal F1 car, with amazing handling and insane power. The small company, started by two of the Mclaren engineers, is based out of Basinstroke in the United Kingdom. With a building speed of only two cars per month, this car is guaranteed to be a low production masterpiece. The company spokesperson says that half of the first build of cars have been sold already.

With the first vehicle (the XP1) finished, it will now undergo many tests and changes before the cars reach owners' hands in 2007. Caparo's CEO says he hopes to get the attention of automotive and aerospace companies and show them the possibilities capable with composite materials, the other portion of their company. Stay tuned to RPM for more information on this brilliant race-inspired road car as the other prototype, the XP2, is completed. |
