The 5.2 liter V10 roars, the suspension hugs the road, and the dual zone climate control keeps you and your passenger completely comfortable as you rocket down the road. With a base price of $72,000, the Audi S6 makes a bold statement in the land of sports sedans, and with only 1000 of them headed to North American shores, owners are sure to feel special.
The dynamic looks of the 2007 Audi S6 will turn some buyers away, but those that enjoy it will be further impressed by the LED headlights and the now standard front grille. The rear of the car is less aggressive, featuring two, twin-tipped, exhaust pipes. The trunk lid features a small spoiler, which adds a dash of flavor without getting carried away.

The interior is standard Audi issue: comfort combined with the most gadgets and features. The heated seats are covered in Silk Nappa leather, and the matching leather wrapped steering wheel contains the controls for the Bose sound system.

The real treat comes when the owner decides to start the car up and take it for a spin. The throaty 5.2 liter V10 engine produces 435 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. While the car has a curb weight of about two tons, the powerplant provides the gusto needed to get the sedan rolling quickly due to the fact that 90% of the cars available torque comes in at 2300 rpm or less. Another seemingly standard Audi feature, all wheel drive, is included to help manage the power under the right foot. The transmission is a six speed automatic, with the Tiptronic feature in case one feels like shifting. Some dislike the "manumatic" transmissions of this day and age, but surprisingly the paddle shifted Tiptronic provides quick and precise shifts. The suspension and brakes get a bump to handle the power, which is transferred to the 19 inch standard wheels.
Audi set out to create a competent competitor for BMW and Mercedes Benz, and with the S6, they have certainly achieved their goal. Other luxury brand owners should be looking in their rear view mirrors soon, the traditional Audi grille will be coming much faster than before.
