As an owner of the current Jeep Liberty, I am excited to bring you these revealing spy-photos of the next generation Jeep Liberty. It's longer, taller, boxier, and more rugged looking than the model it will soon replace. The new Liberty looks poised to improve upon 3 major areas. The first gripe is that the power output of the existing 3.7L is a little underwhelming. However, with an optional 260 horsepower 4.0L V-6, the 2008 Jeep Liberty should put to rest all of these complaints. The second gripe is about interior space since the Liberty is a small SUV any space is a premium. Positioning my leg to not hit the steering wheel on long drives has become something that I am starting to dislike. Hopefully with the longer wheel base there will be more interior room for the driver and cargo alike. The last area of improvement should be in the availability of performance enhancing off-road features like electronic locking differentials or at the least, limited slip differentials, more ground clearance and a better ride all thanks to the revised suspension and stretched chassis. So look for the next generation Jeep Liberty to continue outselling the Toyota Rav-4, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape in the future. Keep checking back with RPM as we bring you the latest news about the 2008 Jeep Liberty.
