After having perked the ears of budget-minded luxury sedan
seekers with their 2009 Genesis, Hyundai is at it again with their sights on
the performance coupe crowd. Leaked well
before its official unveiling at the New York Auto Show, RPM Planets is proud
to bring you the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
The Genesis coupe is based on the same rear-wheel-drive platform as the
Genesis Sedan, however, the 4.6 liter V8
option has been tossed wayside to be replaced by your choice of a
turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 3.8L V6. Hyundai is hinting that power output of the
V6 trim will be in the 300+ horsepower arena. Which is, by our calculations, enough to keep up with Ford's finest GT-adorned pony car. |

To be completely honest, labeling the 2009 Hyundai Genesis
as merely a performance sedan, is a bit misleading.
The word often used to describe its benchmarks, such as Mercedes
E-Class, Infiniti M and Lexus GS, must also be applied to the Genesis. Hyundai is leading off the race of future
performance vehicles in its fleet with this luxury-based
performance sedan. The Korean automakers
plan was to deliver a $60,000 vehicle at a $30,000 price tag and after a year and half of testing, they've finally completed their task. |

Incredible. One of many great adjectives that could be used to describe the new Nissan GT-R, which, is easily a contender for the most shocking car of 2007. It seems everyone thought the next "Skyline" was going to be much of the same routine from Nissan, AWD, Turbocharged six cylinder. Oh it's that, alright, and yet, so much more. So much, in fact, that Nissan felt it was too amazing to label as another Skyline, instead, it wears only three letters. |

Have you ever heard of the school bully also being the valedictorian? The one who's over-testosteroned physicality is equal to the amount of sophistication and class it presents? Apparently the engineers at Lexus remember having their lunch money stolen by the teacher's pet. The 2008 IS-F will be the latest up and coming performance sedan in Lexus' ongoing persuit of perfection and refined all-out performance. |

We've seen several shots of the ever-impressive 2009 Nissan GT-R, and the car has also been snapped in some video footage as well. The car recently made some public appearances on TV Tokyo, but was donning its underwear on the front fascia (as if we don't know what it looks like!). The fanatics over at Jalopnik have said they are going to catch the official debut in Tokyo very shortly. It will be awesome to see and we're just as excited as they are to see more of this completely sweet Asian dish of a car. Check out the video we have in store for you inside! |

Nissan has decided to officially demonstrate just how committed
they are to making their GT-R sportscar a true supercar with the release of performance
and price figures. The GT-Rs 3.8L twin
turbo V6 will be producing 473 horsepower and 434 ft-lbs of torque. If that doesnt seem like enough for you, youve
underestimated the delivery of such raw Asian fury. Through the aid of an all-wheel drive, GR6 dual
clutch six-speed and paddle shifted automatic, the 0-60mph time will be a mere 3.5
seconds. Expect quarter mile times in
the 11.7 second range and a top speed of 192 mph. For those in the market, anticipate a base
MSRP starting below $80,000. At this
performance level, Porsche 911 Turbos are scared; at this price, Z06s are
equally scared. Stay tuned to RPM
Planets for more details as they become available. |

If you've been keeping tabs on RPM Planets' ongoing coverage of the Nissan GT-R Concept car, you'll know that the clock is steadily ticking down towards the
Ocober 24th public unraveling of Nissan's high performance
GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show. As if the hype wasn't large enough, Nissan has begun the
festivities with the launch of the
official GT-R website. |

Some time ago, we reported that Toyota was rumored to be developing a cheap, entry level rear wheel drive compact car, reminiscent of the Corolla AE86. It almost seemed too far-fetched to have any merit, but the same rumor has popped up in the news again. Insiders working for the GTChannel in Japan have once again reported it to be in the works. Sources seem to think that it could slip in the Scion brand, or even as a Toyota. We think the car would sell like hotcakes, especially as popular as the drifting scene has become in America. The car would be priced in the 16 to 20 thousand dollar price range. |

When a person thinks about the Lexus car company, they envision comfort, style, and a great car to take the kids to soccer or the grocery store in. If a person were to suggest a Ferrari competitor from Lexus, many would probably laugh and consider them crazy. However, Lexus has recently been on a performance kick, and they are introducing some exciting new rides. We showed you the Lexus IS-F recently at the Detroit Auto Show, and now another concept from Lexus has been seen testing on the racetrack. |

A few months ago, we saw a video of the upcoming Nissan GTR concept car racing around the track. With its Tokyo motor show debut getting closer and closer, it is to be expected that we start seeing more and more of the car. This time, the GTR was spotted at the Goodwood Speed Festival wearing surprisingly little factory camouflage and sporting a throaty exhaust note.
