The next generation Mini Cooper is expected to make its public debut at the 2006 Paris Motor Show. However, the marketing people within Mini Corp. couldn't wait any longer. As they have released these pictures of the 2007 Mini Cooper for your viewing pleasure. Changes include a larger front overhang [for pedestrian impact requirements], new interior pieces made from higher quality materials and a change in engine suppliers. The changes to the hood have not affected the appearance but did add 2.3" of length to the car, now at 145" total. Also changing are the headlights. The hood is now cut out around the fixtures so the lights can be securely mounted to the chassis [again for pedestrian impact requirements.] The big news is the change in the engine compartment: Gone is the Brazilian based engine in favor of a Citroen sourced 1.6L. The base Mini will have 120 horsepower and 118 lb-ft. of torque. In the S model the Horsepower goes to 175. Torque increases to 177 lb-ft between 1,600 and 5,500RPM. For more pictures of the 2007 Mini Cooper you can keep reading or check out the Autoweek picture gallery. |

Two new tidbits have been released from BMW recently--a coupe version of the latest 3 Series and the first turbocharged BMW being launched in 20 years--both in the same package. The 2007 BMW 335i coupe uses a turbocharged, 3.0 liter, inline six-cylinder mated to a six-speed gearbox to get from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Not bad, considering the 300hp/300 lb.ft powerplant gets 3571 lbs up to speed in refined German fashion. A lowered roofline, sport-tuned suspension, and carefully configured turbo ensure this latest 3 Series release is no slouch when it comes to peak performance. Check out the rest of the photographs below and get all the details over at Autoweek. |

Here is a glimpse of the next Audi, the S3. It is expected to make its public debut sometime this fall in Paris. This hot little hatch will only be on sale in the European markets for the time being, as Audi usually waits a while before importing cars like the S4, S6, and S8 to the U.S. The S3 you see here comes with a beefed up version of the VW GTI 2.0L that now pumps out 265 turbocharged horsepower and 258 ft-lbs. of torque. The S3 also gets a 6 speed manual with Quattro all wheel drive to add to the everyday practicality of Audis lineup. As with any sport model, the suspension is adjusted for improved handling and better stopping via bigger brakes and tires. The S3 will debut at a 2007 model for roughly 45,000 U.S. dollars. Check out more in the official Audi press release. |

With the oil industry in extreme turmoil and the seemingly never ending price hikes at the gas pump, everyone is thinking about cheaper ways to transport themselves. One company, Tesla, displayed an electric powered sports car based on the Lotus Elise. Early stats indicated a 0-60 time of 4.0seconds and a usable driving range of 250miles before needing a recharge. I don't know about you, but the range of the Tesla is equal to my Jeep Liberty (in the city). Recently Tesla signed an agreement with Lotus to produce the Tesla Roadster out of the Hethel factory in the United Kingdom. Sales are projected to start early next summer here in the U.S. and carry an entry fee between 85,000 and 120,000 dollars. |

Growing up isn't always bad. Take the Audi TT for example: the new version is bigger and bolder, yet more refined and easier to drive. These spy pictures were taken during cold weather testing and many of the new design characteristics can be seen. All of the mechanical features will be carried over from the hardtop TT, from which the convertible is based on. The new convertible is expected in showrooms a few months after the all new hardtop Audi TT. Both will debut as 2008 models starting next year. |

Maybe you are in the market for an Aston Martin Vantage? Or maybe it's a Bentley GT that strikes at your heart's desires? Whatever the reasons are, the segment for ultra luxury coupes is really booming these days. Even Maserati thinks there is enough demand in the segment to introduce a coupe version of its Quattroporte. Details are still only speculative at this point since the official release is scheduled for the Geneva motor show in 2007. However, here is a cleverly disguised prototype of the upcoming coupe version. |

Next month, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California, Pininfarina will take the wrapping off of its second custom Ferrari, the P4/5. The Ferrari P4/5 is based on the Enzo supercar and will eventually find its home in the garage of U.S. collector and former movie director James Glickenhaus. The concept itself was designed, engineered and built entirely by Pininfarina and the vehicle will reportedly compete in a new Prototype class at the annual concours. "The entire vehicle expresses elegance and fluidity with the clear-cut, uncluttered lines that are typical of Pininfarina's style," said Ken Okuyama, director of Pininfarina styling. Check out the last two shots of the P4/5, below. |

Jaguar has done it again, except this time the Americans can't own one. The Jaguar XJR Portfolio was recently revealed in London. Sporting elegant design cues from both the concept Eight show car and the Super V8 Portfolio. The Portfolio is set apart from other XJs by its looks and gets a good deal of power also. The Portfolio uses the supercharged 4.2 liter engine that produces 400bhp. The transmission is a ZF 6 speed auto, resulting in a 0-60 run of 5 seconds flat for a mere 62,040 Euros. Now for the bad news: only 100 of these beautiful cars will be built, and there are only going to be for sale in the United Kingdom. For more information you can visit the Jaguar website directly. |

The product revival happening at Lotus is nothing short of spectacular. Recent new releases and introductions have all lead to a rebirth of the sports car company. The Lotus motto performance through lightweight' certainly shows through in cars like the Exige S and the forthcoming Esprit. Now what is the best way to put a crown on all of your achievements? Why not build a track car? Well that is the plan for the circuit race car you see here. As equipped, the circuit racer will get the 1.8L supercharged and inter-cooled engine, aluminum frame and composite body panels. All told, the vehicle weighs in at less than 1200 pounds. The base engine (non-supercharged 190bhp) should provide a 0-60MPH sprint in less than 4 seconds. Expect these cars available from you local Lotus dealer in 2007, starting around 43K dollars. |

Brabus, as well-known German automobile tuner, has dubbed its latest monster the "Rocket". Aptly named, the car is based off the Mercedes CLS and has some significant statistics to back up the nomenclature. It recently recorded a 225.18 mph top speed on a test track in Nardo, Italy, screaming its way into the record books as the world's fastest street-legal sedan. |
