Barabus recently unveiled its Veyron killer. In development for 10 years, this car comes with a 7.0L V8 engine, a pair of turbo chargers and twin intercoolers. That power plant puts out a mere 1005-bhp in a very nice package with an indicated redline of 7,500RPM. Indicated top speed is 270mph. According to the company website the TKR hits 60MPH in 1.67seconds. I don't know about you, but I say that is FAST! The car, built out of carbon fiber, merges together the concepts of an F1 race car in a road car package. The car is now on sale worldwide for a cool 360,000 euros. For more information, you can visit the Barabus site directly. |

Reports indicate that TVR will be returning to the American market once their Speed6 engine can be reconfigured to meet American emissions requirements. Once the second largest manufacture of sports cars in Europe, TVR is trying to re-establish themselves in the sports car market once again. "My intention to expand the sales and distribution of TVR cars throughout Europe, the USA and markets throughout the rest of the world is a key part of the business strategy of the company." stated Nikolai Smolenski [of TVR]. Looking back, no one really knows what happened to TVR. Was it a lack of technology in their models? Was it the continual changing of hands? Or did they just run out of steam on their own? What ever the cause before, TVR is making a comeback. Look for TVR cars to show up on American roads once again, reiterating their [TVR] knowledge of how to build a "proper" sports car. |

Recent spins from AutoExpress magazine have suggested that Audi has set its sights on contending with the Lotus Elise to capture more of the razor-sharp corner carving market. It's likely to be spun from the TT, in a much smaller form and could quite possibly make an official debut before year's end. Assisted by KTM, an Austrian motorcycle producer, the Elise killer-to-be will cater to the thrill of the driving experience, be extremely exclusive, and in limited (production) numbers. The "baby TT" is viewed to be a roadster built from a carbon fiber chassis and will have very similar traits to the VW EcoRacer concept. The concept will weigh around 1600 pounds and is said that it will achieve nearly 50mpg with a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 6 seconds. Wow! We'll have to see what else the venture between Audi and KTM produces on this one. RPM Planets will keep you posted, so stay tuned. |

Reports are starting to surface through the Internet indicating that DaimlerChrysler will offer a Mercedes-Benz S-class hybrid starting in 2008. Speculation is that the hybrid system will only assist the motor (partial hybrid.) Some think this move intended to counter the Lexus LS600-h offering, introduced to the public earlier this year. The S-class hybrid will be introduced to Japan and the United States, as diesel is still popular in Europe. |

Recently the British automotive magazine, Automag, gathered up some of the most recognizable super cars on the face of the planet. You're probably wondering what they did with a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Ford GT, Corvette Z06, Shelby Daytona Cobra, Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW M6, Alpina B5, and a Vauxhall Maloo. Well they closed down the London City airport and used the runway to see what speed each car would reach after a 1 mile run of course! The results are listed fastest to slowest, below. |

It's been said before that some cars as so fast they seem like they are jets. Well, the diesel powered Audi R10 TDI proves itself worthy of flight, as it is only a tenth of a second slower than a Harrier jump jet! Hard to believe, but the winner of the 24 hour Le Mans raced the combat jet in a 1 kilometer sprint on an airstrip to show its potential. The incredible video is waiting for you below. |

With Volkswagen having a little bit of trouble selling cars in recent years, things are starting to get interesting. VW has started releasing new model after new model to boost sales and spice up their line up a little. Recent announcements about the Rabbit name, Eos , an open cockpit roadster and the Scirocco have really started to put the buzz back into the Volkswagen brand. The picture you see here is an updated rendering of what the next Scirocco could possibly look like. The car is being planned as a 2009 model with hopes of 100,000 units sold annually. |

When Porsche sets out to improve upon a model, there are probably no goals left unchecked when production starts. Let's take the new 911/GT3 for example: Lighter, faster, more stopping power, higher RPM limit. Oh and let us not forget the most important goal, the new GT3 is more civil than the model it replaces. The 996 GT3 was known to be a bit skittish on uneven pavement, especially when the vehicle was carrying any type of speed. Not so in the 997 GT3, as the guys from Road & Track discovered, the new car feels more sorted out and less likely to follow ruts on the highway. So if you find yourself in the market for a civilized 415HP at a reasonable price of 106,000 dollars, you should look into this car. |

It has been decided that the planned McLaren SLR coupe is a sure thing, as the SLR 722 Edition was exhibited to 50 potential buyers at the Paul Ricard circuit this past weekend. The "722" nomenclature refers to the starting number of the 300 SLR driven to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia by Stirling Moss and Dennis Jenkinson. With 650 horsepower and a price tag over $470,000, the SLR will make its official public debut in Paris this fall. Americans will have to wait for a 2nd hand sampling of the SLR 722 Edition, as none are going to sold directly in the United States. |

Introductions of sedans using retractable hardtops just keep making headlines recently. Here you are getting a look at Volkswagen's entry into this emerging market. Available on dealership lots this September for under 30,000 dollars. It's called Eos, fittingly named after the Greek goddess of dawn who gave birth to the wind and stars. The hardtop consists of three pieces that fold neatly into the trunk to create a very nice looking automobile for warm weather cruising. Along with the split personality of the hardtop and convertible, the Eos will also offer a sunroof on the main panel to further confuse people unfamiliar with the car. |
