Two hot hits are being ramped up for release to SRT fans: the Super Bee nomenclature and the "TorRed" paint scheme.  Dodge performance fans will get to see the Super Bee decor applied to the limited-edition 2007 Charger SRT8 and the "TorRed" splashed on the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. The Super Bee application to the 2007 Charger SRT8 will be lacquered in "Detonator Yellow" with an accompanying black hood, deck lid face, while the infamous Super Bee regalia will adorn the front and rear fenders.  The exterior isn't the only host to the application; the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob will all have complementary yellow stitching.

The force spearing the stinger of this Super Bee is the SRT-engineered 6.1 liter HEMI, with an output of an additional 85 horsepower (a 25% jump) over its sibling 5.7 liter HEMI.  Dodge laps a milestone in performance, with this power plant producing 425 hp (317 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. (569 N*m) of torque.  These "new wings" allow the Super Bee to fly from 0 to 60 circa 5 seconds, 0 to 100 in less than 17 seconds, and comes to a halt in about 110 feet; not at all bad for a sedan with four doors.

Every Dream Starts Somewhere

In 1968, the Super Bee schema found its roots in the "Scat Pack" performance line, with the Dodge Coronet being the host.  The Bee continued its buzz pattern until 1971, where it was applied to the Dodge Charger.  These icons bring upwards of $100,000 today in restored fashion.

Now, the Super Bee dream is again realized, with its latest host being the 2007 Charger SRT8 sedan.  Release of the vehicle for public purchase is said to be in the fall of 2006, with pricing undetermined at present.

Color, to the Power of Three

They say “it” comes in 3’s and in this case the palette is laden with between three memorable colors: “Go Man Go!”, “Top Banana”, and “TorRed”.  Coupled with these hues, the 2006 Charger Daytona R/T will be set apart with a black honeycomb grille, black “Daytona” and “HEMI” lettering, the R/T badges, and a black rear spoiler.

Powering the 2006 Charger Daytona is the 5.7 liter HEMI V-8, unleashing 350 hp (261 Kw) and 390 lb.-ft. (525 N*m) of torque.  This 3% increase is achieved while fuel efficiency is increased by up to 20%, courtesy of the Multiple Displacement System (MDS).  MDS allows Charger fans to enjoy the legendary HEMI grunt without stopping at every fuel station.

Inside, the 2006 Charger R/T has sport seats with suede inserts, and the “Daytona” insignia embroidered on the headrests.  To keep the enthusiast from forgetting the beauty of the outside, the Charger seats and leather wrapped steering wheel are hemmed together with body color stitching.  A color-keyed center stack and a “Daytona Limited Edition” display will brighten any driver’s day as well.  Lastly, a sequentially numbered Daytona badge completes the instrument cluster, capping off an electrifying Dodge Charger Daytona R/T interior.

So, it charges ahead with power—is the current of the Charger direct or alternating?  Well, it is quite direct and definitive, as a world-class ride is meshed with power.  The Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control, and anti-lock brakes round out the footing for the R/T.  Other amenities in comfort include dual automatic climate zones, heated front seats, automatic headlamps, and adjustable foot pedals.

The “TorRed” Charger Daytona R/T will make its presence known at the 2006 North American Auto Show in Detroit.  Rollout of this new generation Mopar muscle starts with the production in the Brampton (Ontario) plant, with pricing unannounced at present.
