This season's kickoff event of Formula Drift will reveal Samuel Hubinette (the “Crazy Swede”) ripping pavement in a HEMI powered Mopar Dodge Charger in Long Beach, California on April 2, 2006.  A 2004 winner, Hubinette rounded out the 2005 season in the number two slot.  Moving from the SRT10 Viper to the HEMI Charger is a welcomed concept.  “I think it was time for a change, and I’m really looking forward to taking the wheel of the Mopar Dodge Charger...” Hubinette remarked.

This new Charger racing campaign will be for Shaun Carlson and his NuFormz Racing team.  Carlson, serving as crew chief, maintained the Viper Competition Coupe that Hubinette skidded to the pinnacle of the 2004 season.  Thoroughly impressing Carlson, Mopar and SRT made their preliminary preparations to the car, while the NuFormz racing team charged the car to the next level of power to assist in seizing the 2006 championship.

The 2005 season spoiled Hubinette’s chances for a three-peat.  Ending 40 points shy of the leader shows every event is significant.  Chalking up wins in Atlanta and Chicago in 2005, he has won 50% of the events held.
